Spectral Interpretation

Course

The course Interpretation of Infrared and Raman Spectra is offered annually by Infrared and Raman Courses, Inc.

The course is held on the campus of Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine. It is a four-and-a-half day course, Monday through Friday midday. All day Monday, as well as Tuesday through Friday mornings, lectures are presented. Tuesday through Thursday afternoons are devoted to workshop sessions to put the lecture topics into practice. The course instructors serve as tutors during the workshop sessions.

A full set of lecture notes and a set of workshop exercises is provided as part of the course. The instructors are available during the week to answer participant questions, and participants are encouraged to bring digital copies of spectra from their labs for confidential discussions with the instructors.

Accommodations for the course are available on campus as well as in the general area. Meal plans at the college are available and a course banquet is available, typically a Maine Lobster Bake.

Book Discount

Members of The Coblentz Society are entitled to a 25% discount on all Wiley books, and a 40% discount on selected books on spectroscopy through December 31, 2021. In addition, several reference spectra collections are available through the Coblentz Society Store.
